I just picked up this beautiful machine a couple months ago. It’s been a dream for as long as I can remember to own a Jeep. I’m at the beginning of a long project. This CJ-2A runs well and drives well but has no brakes, amazingly everything else works right down to the gauges. It has a working pto as well. Money is tight and the restoration will surely take a while but one part at a time will get replaced as needed.
I found this Jeep on Ebay. It was sitting in this fellas barn since the 60’s when his dad bought it. It was love at first sight. I knew I was going to do whatever it took to get it. Sure enough, one week later I was on my way to Kentucky from Florida to get it. It came with a snow plow and a pto mower attachment.

I hope you know but if not, here’s a good tip, I recently did a 53 willys that need EVERYTHING.
One thing I learned was that if you take the brake backing plates off to sand blast/clean them. Stamp them them as to their original location (LF, RR). Putting them back on they must go back to their original location. Same with the new wheel cylinders, they are location specific!
Other than that, have fun!

I think it was, from memory, 48 that they did bow brackets on the right side vs the traditional left side. Cool 2A.

What is the SN? if the top bow holders are on the r side and the spare tire should be on the drivers side, it looks as if you have yourself a lefty! Only produced for a couple of months in 1948 only! Look of the cj2apage under “calling all lefty’s”, and add your SN to be counted…
