I got this FC-170 DRW Stake Bed a few years ago. It is a 1961 with 9353 miles, 4 speed, 4×4, hoist bed 9000lb GVW, 6-226, and all numbers are correct. It runs great with very good upholstery. The picture below is a Holmes 500 wrecker body. I purchased it from a local wrecker co. I started on the restoration in the spring. I finally finished the restoration on my 1961 FC-170-DRW this weekend. I had earlier pics of what it should look like. The colors were all available colors in 1961 called tropical rose, Burgundy, and White. The truck is equipped with a Holmes 500 cable wrecker body made in Chattanooga TN. PTO driven lights and extras.

That is just so totally cool! A pink wrecker.
The FC’s are the ignored children of the Jeep truck family and even more so the 170’s. Parts are very hard to come by – only Walcks is seriously making new body panels.
One of the ladies at work drove an FC-150 back in the late ’70’s or early 80’s and we tormented her by calling her truck “The Mugly Uther”. I wish I knew where that truck was now, as if I need another truck to go with the ’48.

Just curious what four speed transmission was coupled to the L6-226 engine. Great looking project, congrats!

Robert, that is a really nice FC170, I like the way it all fits together like it was designed to be a wrecker from the start. I am interested in the dually set up, are those custom wheels or was that an FC170 option? I am interested because I have been working on adapting 1 ton Ford rims to my flatbed, but the front adaptors are becoming a real design problem.
Again, I love the truck, great job. I am sure you get some looks going down the road!

To people that had questions about this FC-170-DRW. This truck is a factory 1ton dually from Willys The 4sp is a Warner T98A similar to T98 used by ford and others. The top shifter is made for forward control vehs. This only has 1 PTO adapter on drivers side others have them on both sides. The colors are factory available from 1957 to 1964 Tropical Rose, White, and Burgundy (Red Wood). The wrecker body is built by Ernest Holmes Manf. in Chattanooga TE. Called Holmes 500 Twin Boom Cable Wrecker for 1ton dually trucks. I have the Holmes manuals for installation to your truck.
