This 1948 Willys CJ-2A was pulled out of a barn in 2016. It had been driven hard and put away to rust. I soon found that it needed much more work than I had planned on plus I soon found the body was a lost cause. Since I worked on cars in my younger days I decided to take on the challenge. After eight years working in my garage I put it on the road in May of 2024. The frame-off included EVERYTHING being rebuilt or replaced then painted. With the exception of the body it is true to original with the exception of adding a newer overdrive unit. The body is from Quan and the seat cushions from Big Willy. Machine work was done locally by Performance Clinic and paint by Body Werks. It has 5:38 gears front and back. The paint is 1962 Jeep President Red. It rides and steers great. Shifting into O.D. at 35 MPH it can cruise around 40-45 MPH but as always you still need to keep your eyes on the road. The grand-kids love it and will be learning to drive a “stick” shift as soon as they can. Thanks to Kaiser Willys for their help with parts and tech advice along the way.

  1. Beautiful work, Sir.
Just curious in the second family photo. Why is the turn signal dangling?
