1950 Willys Jeepster. Love at First Sight! The summer of 1969 is when my brother Roger and I first saw the 1950 Jeepster with a blown motor our neighbor had for sale. It had black gorilla hair carpet lining the interior, no brakes and two flat tires. Jeff was asking fifty bucks for this beauty! We wanted it bad! Dad saw through our request for the money and bought it himself.

The Jeepster sat for the next twenty three years in various places and rotted away. Dad and Tom worked on it for two years to get it ready for Mom & Dads 50th wedding anniversary in 1992. Primer red with a new convertible top and mixed matched tires, but it moved on its own power to give Mom a ride on their special day.

Dad passed away in 1994, so the Jeepster sat again till 2003 when it came to me; or did I steal it? I tubbed it out, gave the brakes an overhaul, shocks, tires, electric fuel pump, rewired electric harness, removed giant mouse nests in the seats. My father-in-law did the repainting with my help. Mom got to ride in it for her birthday and special occasions, grinning wide and happy!

Its a fun old car with lots of stories to tell yet.

This looks similar to my ’50 Jeepster. Mine has been modified with a 283 Chevy Corvette engine, traction bars and a hydromatic. Will start working on it when I finish my 68 Commando.
