This 1954 Willys CJ-3B story was sent to us by John and Karen Taylor, whose restoration brought a family heirloom from fields and hunting trails to our 2026 Catalog cover.

The ’54 Willys CJ-3B was purchased in the early 1980’s by my parents to be used on their farm near Seguin, TX and to annually trailer to a deer hunting lease in East Texas. The old Willys provided countless memories with their grandchildren as PaPaw drove them around the farm during family visits. It remained a worn, but faithful Jeep throughout the years with routine maintenance.

After PaPaw passed away, I  purchased the Willys from my Mom with a promise that it would remain on the farm as long as she lived so that the grandchildren could still enjoy rides. I honored her wishes and after she passed away, I decided to restore it with major help from my wife’s uncle, Paul, and  Kaiser Willys. Paul had restored many Cushmans and vintage trucks to showcase level. The original engine was restored and the original tub was patched and welded up. It was converted from a 6 volt to 12 volt.  Rhino lined spray helped hide small imperfections on the floorboard and tub inside.

We no longer have the farm, but the next generation of grandchildren are enjoying rides around our neighborhood and they loved riding in with us in Seguin’s 4th of July parade this Summer.
