I can’t take credit for restoring this beast but I did bring it home to where many of them roamed decades ago. I live about half way between Boston and Cape Cod in the beautiful seaside community of Duxbury where the only dealership to ever reside here was a Jeep dealer. There have always been so many Jeeps here because of our drive on beach that they were nicknamed the “Duxbury Cadillac” ages ago. We also are home to the longest wooden auto bridge in the USA that leads out to our gorgeous beach. My Willys is truly at home here!

  1. All it’s life on the beach!?!?!??! WOW! What did NOT have to be replaced when it was restored!? Glad it was saved. Nice looking Willys.

  3. I’m assuming the dealership you are talking about is Millbrook Motors. I bought jeeps from them years ago as well as parts for my vintage jeeps. They were a very nice family and always treated me with respect. In 1961 my Dad bought a wagon like yours from Corby Motors is Rhode Island. The only option it had was an am radio mounted towards the base of the steering colum. It was $3200 brand new. Boy if we only knew and had the money to buy more of them for our retirement. Good luck with your beautiful jeep.

  7. Beautiful! I’m not sure the dual tail lights on each side was factory, my 62 wagon has just one and I’ve never seen 2. That looks like an original color or pretty close.

  9. Beautiful looking Wagon! I have a 1963 wagon in green and white, but I believe the original color is the same as yours. I love mine and drive it as much as the weather allows (I live in Arizona near Phoenix, so I only drive it from October to April as it is too hot). Great looking ride!!

  11. Wicked wagon, like the high roof split window models. Dual exhaust? Is it still a 226. My 61 came from Brockton Ma. Frank E Gregory Auto Exchange. He was the Willys dealer there. Love driving over that wooden bridge on the bike. Dual tail lights will help others to see you. Also back up lights!

  13. It is the original color Fountain Green Metallic. Original 226 dual exhaust is just for looks and yes the double tail lights are not stock

  17. I learned to drive a very similar color and model Willys when I was about 14 on Nauset Beach when my family would stay at Old Harbor station in the late 1960’s, long before it was moved to Race point to become a museum! The only way you could get to the house was to take a boat ride from Nickersons fish pier across the bay or dive the Jeep about 20 miles on the beach to Old Harbor Station..!That’s when I caught the “Jeep disease” as my wife calls it! I have owned 20 plus jeeps over the last fifty years!
I currently own a 1948 Willys CJ2A Lefty that I have spent the last 20 years completing a frame off restoration , a true labor of love! I am Only the second owner. I purchased it from a family friend, whose family bought it new in 1948 and kept it at their hunting camp in Loch Haven, PA . I try to drive it weekly and hopefully
Both of us will be around for a long time to come. If I ever win the lottery, I would love to own the same Jeep as yours !!!
