My great uncle purchased this CJ-2A in Sioux Falls, SD in early 1947. He had it parked in the barn when it quit running and it sat until his death in 1976. My uncle purchased it at the estate auction but never had time to get it running so it continued to sit until I purchased it in 2007. It had a frame off restoration in 2009 and provides me with enjoyment and frustration with its nuances and leaks. I still enjoy wrenching on it and my nephew has asked to purchase it when I can no longer due to age and health issues. I still have the paperwork from when my great uncle had this and we are going through old family photos trying to locate pictures of him with it. It has been in the family and will continue to remain for more decades.

  1. Beautiful Jeep! Beautiful Restoration! She’s a beauty!
I am looking for a 46′ CJ2A to baby myself! I live in Washington State but I am about to build a new home in Montana so you can bet-I will need a jeep! Good luck & take care! Thank-you for sharing!

  3. Great story,
Original paint & condition pretty neat as well. I might have been tempted to fix all mechanical issues and leave it with original body paint condition. But still great 47 CJ2A.

  7. What a beautiful Willys. Wish I had kept my grandfathers 52 after he pasted in 1972, I sold for $500 dollars and could not replace for $5000. Still would like to get another but they are so expensive it won’t happen.

  13. Great story, I am driving the 47 2a that my dad bought in 1970. I’ve actually been driving the same vehicle for over 50 years. I should have saved all the receipts.

  15. My first Jeep was a ‘2A with a 3’A windshield. I have never had so much enjoyment or performance with any other vehicle. even with engine, brake and steering swaps.
