I bought my Pickup in Feb of 2011 and fixed the engine and some other mechanical things for one year. I’ve been driving it for 2 or 3 days a week since April of 2012.

Here in Brazil, Willys Overland was founded in 8/26/52 and made Jeep (also ‘Jeep’ here), Aero, Station Wagon (‘Rural’ here) and Truck (‘Pick-up Jeep’ until 1971. After it’s called ‘F-75’) until 1968 as WO. In 1967, FORD bought Willy Overland and the cars were called FORD RURAL and FORD F-75. (You can see a comparison of the American and Brazilian models of the Station Wagon designed by Brooks Stevens – The article is in Portuguese, but has some pictures: http://ruralwillys.tripod.com/historia/testerural60.htm – It’s from September of 1960)
The “Pick-up Jeep” was made from 1960 to 1982, initially with the 6 cylinder engine (BF-161) and at the end with a 4 cylinder ethanol engine.

My pick-up is a little rare because it is “Luxo,” which means:
– 4×2
– knobs of the dashboard and ring around the gauges are chromed
– front suspension is with independent “coins”, not “bars” (see photo)
– front bumper is chromed
– two colors: roof in white and body with other colors
– made in 1968, 1969 and 1970
Another singularity of my pick-up: all numbers (engine, chassis, etc) are matching ‘9’ (from 1969), but the documents and ID plate are 1970. Here we believe that my pick-up was made in late 1969 as a 1970 model.
The color that you love is a 1971 Ford color called “Turquesa Royal” (Turquoise Royal), but the original color of my pick-up was “Verde Majorca” (Majorca Green – see the photo with the turquoise covering the green and the other with a truck all green).

My pick-up is exactly the same as the one on the owner’s manual – (See Photo)

I was an engineer at Ford and Drove a 48 Jeepster, It had a buick V 8, Ford station wagon 9 ” rear, T 85, and wago front brakes. I got a lot of static until the
Ford anual Stockholder’s report came out with information about the Partnership . I remember the Wagons having 4 headlights, the didn’t look right.

Very nice truck! I was wondering if there’s a way to contact Jean in Brazil and ask about Willys parts that are available there?

Hallo Jean Fabricio,
thank you for your little report on your Brazilian Willys Jeep. I can see original design: the doors, steering wheel, screen and frame, My Australian 63 pick up is the same as the American model.
Thanks for the nice fotos.

Peter
