This is my true 1956 Jeep pickup restored from frame up and all original except the gas tank and switching her from 6 volt to 12 volt (common sense). I bought Wilbur (name from Mountain Men) in 2009 and started to restore her in 2010. I sandblasted the frame myself and 11 years later this is the result. I bought all my restoration supplies from Kaiser Willys and I am absolutely satisfied with your products. I had many bumps, blood, sweat and tears down the road restoring Wilbur but here in Canada not only the Jeep pickups are rare but being a 1956 because of the one year production for that front grille she is very rare in Canada and even in the USA. The 226 Super Hurricane just purrs from the rebuild and also the tranny and transfer case. The surprising looks I get when I drive Wilbur is hilarious because not to many people have seen the Willys pickup and their jaws drop when they see the tailgate and realize it is a Jeep.

I also purchased the original front winch bumper with a short drive shaft that connects to the transfer case that drives the winch. I also have the original back bumper that was on the Truck when I purchased her. The two bumpers were not sold from the factory, you would get a sales brochure and you would buy the bumpers from the dealership who in turn would install them for you before you would take it home or after you purchased the Truck. I also have the PTO for the Truck with a long drive shaft that again would connect to your transfer case and the drive shaft would go to your back bumper and would power a saw or conveyer belt.

  1. Beautiful restoration. I have the exact same truck (year, color, etc) that I have owned since 1969. I have it at the midpoint of an off the frame restoration, waiting to get the body back from the painter. I would like to share some sources and stories if we can be put in touch through this site. Great job!
