Looking for, Willys Jeep Parts, Willys Jeep replacement parts, Willys Jeep body parts and much more for your 1941-1971 Willys vehicle, you have come to the right place!
I have just fixed up an M38, chassis number 1770 with SA below that. 4 cyl GM motored with a 3 speed manual gearbox. I am starting to drive it around Harare, Zim and enjoying it. It’s not as simple to drive as my Cruiser but it is a cool car for the summer. Gotta fix the wipers and the indicator switch. Brakes pull to the left. Brake & accelerator pedal seem a little too close and driving long distance doesn’t seem like a good option with accelerator position… Otherwise everything else works nice for a car over 60!
I just restored a 1967 CJ 5 with all original parts. Dauntless V6 which is still giving me fits getting a distributor replacement, but I love it just the same. Painted bright yellow that screams LOOK AT ME everywhere I drive it. We took some pic’s of it and trying to pick the best ones to send it to the magazine. And we love all the ones in this ad.
I own a 1957 4×4 Wagon with the L-226 “Super Hurricane”, that I have owned since 1978. In high school I had a 1948 CJ-2A. I have always liked the FC-150 trucks.
I currently am down to one Willys. I just sold my Gala Surrey, in very restorable condition. Now have a 1952 M38 with 1952 M100 trailer. Have been Grand Marshall of 4th of July parade with it. I am a Korean Vet and have a WW II vet that rides with me. Brother just sold a 1947 CJ2 completely restored over a period of ten years. Also just sold a 1957 FC150 mateculously restored. The M38 and M100 are curreently for sale, getting just to old.
I have a very early 1957 FC-150; it is #18 off the assembly line… and just noticed my truck had its’ picture in a history of Jeep article in Four Wheeler magazine. in 2011, with the previous owner. Guess I need to see about getting a back issue 🙂
So far, have needed a bunch of mechanical stuff, including switching to a dual master cylinder when I had an issue with the original, but nothing really outlandish for the age factor!
It is definitely a head-turner, with a bunch of smiles and thumbs-up whenever I drive it.
Would LOVE to have an FC Fire truck, preferably one of the five that served the NY World’s Fair in 1964-65… Hey, I can dream 🙂
I own a GPW and happy to be restoring a
Piece of history. I found it in an
Airplane hanger in pieces.
Also liked the video of the
WWII 10 passenger jeep.
Thanks!
Great Photos! Our family has had a few Jeeps.
Dad bought the first Jeepster sold in Alabama 1948.
Late 50’s he drove a 49 Truck 4X4
I learned to drive and turn wrenches in my 46 CJ2A
Then passed everyone in my 57 wagon with a 307 V-8
Brother Steve had a CJ-5 with 16 layers of paint early 80’s
Parted out a farm field 2WD wagon to fix my friends wagon, 1969
Drove a 78 Comanche for a couple of years
Steve then had a “family” Cherokee for many years
And now for 17 years I have had what I wanted back in my high school days,
1950 Jeepster
with a like new 6-161 “Lightning” F Head Motor
I have a 1945 FORD MB since 1968
My 1947 CJ-2A is listed on your site in the Photo Gallery section under CJ-2A
Ive had a 1978 CJ 5 , and a 1992 YJ. The 1978 CJ5 was the best. It was what a Jeep is suppose to be, small , fold down windshield. The last good jeeps were the YJ Jeeps, all the new Jeeps now circ. 2012 etc. are huge, they arent Jeeps anymore.
Hi Ken, Can you email some photos of your Willys Farm Model to me? My email address is “webmaster@kaiserwillys.com” – Thanks! Rachel H.
I am looking for a set of cj2a door frames for this winter. Anyone have a set in any condition. I could use anything to make a pattern for making my own. All I need are the demensions and location to attack to windshield. Can anyone give me a website to find a pattern or deminsions for my project?
Thanks Paul
44 MB is my favorite my family has three jeeps: 44 MB, 55 pickup, and a 77 CJ5 with the 304cu in engine
My 44 is sitting on a 1970 bronco frame and running gear and the 55 will be set on 79 bronco parts and the 77 is basicaly stock save for a 2.5″ lift
I have a 1950 cj3a,2001 tj,and 1984 B II.of all my favorite has to be the cj3a.It is all stock and it will stay that way. It’s work in progress but I love working on it.
Love anything 1986 and older! Currently own 83 CJ-8; 75 CJ-5 and 1961 Willys Wagon, wagon and 5 are stock. Scrambler, wrangler springs over axles, dana 44’s front and rear from int. scout with 4:56 gears and detroit lockers, 35 BFG’s. Chevy 350 truck motor with throttle body injection, 700 R tramsmission (works well).
My favorites are my 53 Willys 4×4 pickup and my 82 Scrambler. But I also own two 87 Comanche’s, a 92 Cherokee, two CJ7’s a 73 J4000 pickup with a steel flatbed and a 79 Wagoneer.
I have a 1957 Willys Farm Model, you did not show a picture of that. Was that an after market bed?
Thanks Ken
i have a 1941 willys 100 points restoration i will send you some pictures so you can post it if you want i live in mc allen texas an in saltillo mexico
I have a 1945 CJ2A. Stock and mostly original. Have had other CJ2A’s and M38’s. I sort of like all the old flat fenders.
I currently have a 50 cj3a that has been completely restored with very low mileage. I am working on a 52 cj3a off frame restoriation in my spare time. I learned to drive on a 46 cj2a in 1948. Jeeps have been in our family since 1946. I like all flat fenders.
MB is my favorite, I own three 46 cj2-a a 55 m38-a1 and a mutt which was built from a 44,46,and 54
I like the MB grill,and windshield,the 2-a body,and the 3-b motor
M38A1 Borrowed one outside The Zoo Club In Danang 1972 and got aressted for it but they let me go.
I like CJ2A 1945 – 1949 L4 – 144 “Go – Devil”
I have 1947 CJ2A that is fairly Ratty but am patching it up little by little, down the road I will have to replace the whole tub.
My favourite has always been the CJ5. CJ6, CJ7. My present restorer is a 1960 CJ6, 4cylinder very close to completion.
I have a 1951 M38 that was purchased from a county auction in 1991. Motor and drive train had about
60,000 miles. I have added a top, wench, etc., etc.
I do not plan to restore at this point, just keep it reliable and ready to drive my grand kids around. I love to tinker with this jeep. Guess I am partial to the M38.
My first vehicle was a 46 CJ2-A. My daughter’s first vehicle was a 79 CJ-7. We have had a 56 pickup, a 51 station wagon, a full size Cherokee Chief, a 88 Cherokee, and a couple of other Willys that we traded around for enough parts to get the station wagon on the road.
I’m kinda into Dodges now but I am building a Willy Replica, street/trail rod using Cherokee running gear and a 318/727/242 drive train. I built the front end to match a 48 or so Willys. There are no horizontal bars and I’m not sure the number of vertical bars will match anything but it will be road worthy soon.
I think the 46 CJ-2A would have to be the favorite. I drove it through most of Jr High and all of High School.
I own a 56 pickup and I think the 56 is the best in all Jeeps and also the pickups. This year had a few unusual things and in this year than any other year.
1. front grill , horizontal bars are uneven (only year)
2. starter , have to push a peddle inside the cab to engauge starter
3. big back window
3. front split window
4. four front hood latches
5. full time 4 wheel drive ( no front loking hubs)
6. tire lug nuts , passenger side go on right and drivers side left
7. only the 55 and 56 had the Julep Green for paint
8. emergency brake handle in middle of cab
9. two side mirrors drivers side and passenger side
10. radio
I have a 1947 cj2a that I learned to drive on in 1957.It has 22000 miles on it and has always been garage kept. My grandson will soon be learning to drive and I hope, will keep it in the family for years to come. Len
I have recently purchased a 1958 CJ5 with a 225 v6 that gives me plenty of power, this is the body style that has caught my eye for years. Then after becoming more aware of all the differant body styles, the CJ3B has got to be the meanest looking WILLYS on the block, some people don’t care for the boxy front end. But when one of these are done to perfection, there is just something that screams out, BAD — ! They just have a classic pressance of old school WILLYS. And Yes! There was one CJ4 prototype. I have truly found myself bitten by the bug. I take my Willys to the car shows Tuesdays and Fridays and I swear to you that CJ5 get’s more attention than most of the cars out there. I have seen the car owners cringe when they see people crouded around the JEEP sharing all there old storys about friends and family that had one kind of JEEP or another, that some how infulunced there lives an left a lasting memory and a smile. I really can’t wait to pick up that next treasure piece. I think that some of the things in life that are the most cherrished are the ones that we have to work the hardest for. I’m currently helping my long time friend do some body work on his CJ5, Tuxedo Mark IV , thats right classy and three on the tree. ” If God himself were to own a WILLYS it might be a CJ3B”
My favorite Jeep of all time is the 42-45 MB, always loved them adn always will! I currently have a ’47 CJ2A (restored as a military-like MB) and a 2012 JK 4 door; I had many in the past (’52 CJ3B, ’76 J10, ’83 CJ7, ’85 Grand Wagoneer, ’88 YJ, ’95 Grand Cherokee, ’99 Cherokee). I’d say the best motor all time is the 258 straight 6!
3 MB’s, 3 M38A1’s, M38, 2 CJ 6’s, 47 CJ2A, 2 48 CJ3A’s, 59 CJ 3B, 56 Truck, 68 Commando, 69 Commando, 73 Commando, 72 J10, 81 CJ8 Scrambler and a 2007 Unlimited Wrangler. My wife says I have an incurable jeep sickness. Most run and six are tagged – none are restored but about half are nice – I like survivors and usually do not do frame off restorations.
I like the flat fender CJ’s. Those are the ones that most remind me of my Dad who drove one during WW2, and had a Jeep dealership in the 60’s-70’s. I had a few when I was younger, but sold them because they weren’t highway friendly. I owned a 70 3/4 ton Jeep pickup and a 63 and 71 Wagoneer. Now that I’m older and wiser, I traded, this spring, a running, decent, 91 Toyota 4×4 for a non running 51 CJ3a that was heading for the crusher. It’s not the prettiest, but it is solid and very rust free, no winters, a summer camp vehicle. It was on a private road and hadn’t been registered since 1954, and last driven 5 years ago. 2 days later it was running, and driveable. You can’t wipe the smile off my face when I drive this. It brings back lots of memories with my Dad when I was a kid, and when I’m working on it I feel like he’s looking over my shoulder helping me. This one is not going anywhere….a keeper.
I do have a soft spot for the early 4×4 pickups though, I like them original, maybe someday…..
I own a 1945 MB, painted in Navy grey and sporting a 6-volt siren/red light on the right fender. I believe it must have been an MP (Military Police) or SP (Shore Patrol) vehicle during its military career.
I purchased the Jeep 5 years ago from a friend, and it has apparently had numerous owners. Except for the civilian Go-Devil engine, it is all original military issue, including combat wheels, Jerry can, shovel and axe, functioning black-out lights etc. It has markings indicating it belonged to a PT boat squadron in the Phillipines, though I have no way of knowing if that is true. There is evidence the Jeep was originally painted Army olive drab. Some knowledgeable officianados say that it was common for the Navy to “requisition” Army Jeeps and paint them in Navy colors for their use.
It runs like a top and elicits smiles and waves wherever it goes, and it’s particularly fun to pass a modern Wrangler or even a CJ-5 and watch the driver’s reaction!
My Favorite is the MB or maybe CJ3A but I have a 65 CJ5
Hi, my jeeps: GPW 1942 with Bantam 1945, two CJ2A 1948, three CJ3A 1951, 1952, 1952 and CJ3B 1953. Thanks.
Great photos. I’ve been enjoying 1945 CJ2A (my first one) for 20 years. I’ve also had a ’48 CJ2A and a
’57 CJ5. Of all of the Willys models there are, asking me to choose my favorite one is like asking me if I prefer a beautiful blond, brunette, or red head. I Love them all. I just wish there were more Willys specific shows in the South / West Indiana area.
I like the MB’s but have a CJ-3A for my first Willys. It is a “49” model still having the split windshield that were on the CJ-2A’s. “Go Devil” engine and 532 gears are in it also. The main concern with having this era jeeps for me is the axle shear pin. I had a “64” Int. Scout with shear pin axles and was having trouble with shearing them off.
The MB’s are intriging for me because of the sealed distributor and plug wires. Yesterday I towed my CJ-3A home with front and rear drive shafts tied up. I hope the tranny, transfer case and ring gear are OK because the previous owner towed it with them still hooked up.
The engine was just reworked and bored to .900 over so it wont be able to be rebuilt again.
Any way that’s my two (2) bits.
Charles
My current favorite is my 1950 Jeepster with an upgraded 6-161 “Lightning” F Head Motor. It really scoots compared to the the little Go-Devil.
My Dad bought the first Jeepster sold in Alabama in 1947 and in the fifties he drove a Jeep truck.
Out of high school I had a CJ2A with upgraded F-Head 4 cyl. and overdrive.
Then in the quest for more space I acquired a 1957 4X4 wagon with Chev 307 & overdrive. That baby could pass em all going uphill, amazed I didn’t blow the gears!
Time to get the niffty ’50 ready for this years July 4th parade.
Doing an off frame restore and finding all mated parts in need of replacement. Lubrication was NOT maintained. Trang and xfer case in for rebuild. Engine appears strong with good compression. What I thought would some simple mechanical repairs has turned into anything but….in for a dime, in for $$ and loving it.
I admire all the Willys products but I’ll take a wagon or pickup for all-around use and enjoyment.
Just picked up a 1967 Jeepster Commando pickup that was an “almost” basket case.
Parts availabilty is tough at best but the fun is in the search. When I’m done, it’ll be near new condition,
I admire all the Willys products, but I’ll take a wagon or pickup for all-around use.
I’ve been in a Jeep ALL my life- and I do mean all my life. My parents brought me home from the hospital as a new-born across the Golden Gate Bridge in my Dad’s old’ 42 GPW (in 1957) We had a serious of WWII jeeps until I was 14 years old, when he bought me my first “car”… a 1943 MB. I’ve had a huge family of years in the years to come… even a Brand New 1977 CJ7 (it had an automatic for the wife). After alll my Jeeps- I’m down to my pretty original 1967 Cj5. I have incurable stage 4 cancer, and this will probably be my last project. But I am sharing my experience and knowledge about beloved Jeep with my GRANDSON… so the spirit lives on!
Thanks for a great magazine!!
Very sincerely
dave McCombs
I’ve got a 1946 CJ2A, a 1956 CJ6, and a 1981 CJ7. The ’46 and ’56 are bone stockers. The ’81 has a 5.3 LS series engine and 4spd auto. To attempt pegging down a favorite is near impossible. I love em all for different reasons. They each have a distinct capability and personality.
I have a 1960 CJ 5 which is my #2 favorite. #1 would be a Willys Wagon.
Why was there no CJ 4?
I own a M38 but my favorite has to be the MB
Love them all….I have a 1943 MB-1954 m38a1-1967 m715-1968 m725 and a 1977 cj7. I’ve had the cj7 since it was new and it’s still a great trail runner. “ITS A JEEP THING FOR SURE”
I owned the same 1947 CJ-2A for the last 32 years, but a Jeep station wagon is high on my list of wants.
I have a 1947 Willys CJ2A, and it is my favorite model. I am currently reviving it. It has a Chevy 283 V-8 motor. What a hill climber! I am restoring it for my retirement years, and will enjoy fishing and hunting with it in Southern Colorado.
Great photos. I want one of each. I’m on my foutth one right now. It’s a 1964 station wagon, don’ t forget the 6-230 Tornado engine. I’ve owned a 1950 CJ3A,1960 CJ5 and a 1950 station wagon in the past also. Wish I had them all back. Keep up the good work.
I have a 1953 Willys Truck and a TJ. My favorite is the one with the name Jeep. Instead of a favorite, I think all Jeeps are good, just some are better.
You guys are very helpful,
Thanks, Pres
I recently bought a CJ6. I am currently working on it in order to get it highway speed safe. Way too much slop in the steering. Has been modified with a 302 HO V-8 & many other improvements.
I would have to say my favorite is the “6” for the capability of carrying 4 adults & some luggage as well as groceries, bags of top soil & mulch etc. But I sure do like those pickups!
You people are doing a super great job keep it up, and thanks Art
I have a M38A1 that I have kept in its original configuration. It has to be my favorite, but I would love to have one of those 1950 Jeepsters. This is a great photo gallery.
My personal favorite is the Kaiser Willys cj 3b with the f134. F-head and high hood.
Who can not love the Surrey Gala?! If I had to pick one though, I would have to say my CJ3a. It is my daily driver and I love the air conditioning vent below the windshield. That wimpy four banger has trouble pulling us up the long hill to work, but once on the flat and with its “wind” caught, she goes just great.
Actually my “CJ3A” is on a CJ2A Frame, CJ3A 4WD Drivetrain, with a Surrey Gala back-half, dispatcher rear mounted gas tank (had one hell of a time getting the gas level sensor somewhat close – That gad tank does not exist on any websites for parts), and CJ3A front half and sports Army Colors with the side mounted tools. It could be mistaken for the M38 if I would have put the tools on the passenger side, but at the time, I did not know better and wanted it to look like a WWII Willys MB. It had the Gala steps that are now in stoarage as they made it too hard to craw under it. Before painting it and heavily under-coating it, I could dig down through many layers of paint (underneith) to that beutifull coral pink. Going along with the eclecticness and anacurnisticness of my baby, she even sports a 12,000 pound winch on the front. Saddly, I had to take off the 1″ bumper rope for that winch. Of course it makes it look like the bad-asses Surey Gala/CJ3A/Dispatcher/MB Wananbe you have ver seen! LOL
