524: George McAllister’s 1960 Willys Truck Project

The truck was found sitting in a field, parked for over 25 years. Engine was stuck but is running now. The plan is to maintain the patina, but refurbish the mechanicals. The goal is to have a reliable, rolling relic.

  1. I’ve never seen a vehicle with so much surface rust, and so little rust-thru. Incredible, I think you’ve made a wise decision with your project.

  3. I purchased a very similar 1954 Willys truck here in New Mexico, same patina! Got it running, and new brakes installed, so now it runs AND stops! I will order replacement floor boards, which seem to be the only rust trough areas, from Kaiser Willys. Also have the bed extender and PTO shaft. Won’t be a daily driver, but to the feed store, hardware place and some local trips with the grandchildren. Looking forward to continuing the mechanical updates to the old Jeep!
