Dick Nelson 1947 Willys CJ-2A Fire Truck

143: Dick Nelson’s 1947 Willys CJ-2A Fire Truck

This is a 1947 Jeep CJ-2A that was built as a industrial fire truck by Boyer Mfg. There were 50 of these made and this unit was purchased by Osborn Brush Co. in Cleveland as a industrial fire truck due to no fire sprinklers in the plant. In 1987 it was purchased by a friend who purchased the Company and it was shipped to Milwaukee with 450 miles on the truck. I purchased the truck in 2012 and restored it. The truck now has 850 miles and the pictures speak for themselves!

Interesting name on the manufacturing co. I didn’t know thet existed. I don’t think we are related.

  7. Outstanding Willys. You did yourself proud.
My first car was a 1947 CJ-2A. My Jeep also started out as a “brush buggy” with the Fire Department in Willard, Ohio. They used it for grass fires or open field related fires. They had traded it at a dealer in Mansfield where I purchased it in 1966. Stiil had the hose reel in the back.

  9. I was a Fire Fighter and Fire Chief over the period of 48 years and have restored a 1936 Pirsch engine and two military jeeps. Yours takes the prize. I am going to start looking for a restorable M-38 or CJ and make it into a fire truck. Does your piece carry water?

    Great job.

    Thanks for sharing it
