Restored – November 2020

My 1946 Willys CJ-2A is the early model column shift. It still has the 6 volt electrical system and L134 engine. I did change the brake system to disc brakes front and back. The body color is Platinum Frost Silver Metallic and the inside of the tub, under hood, fenders and rear wheel wells are finished in Raptor bed liner spray.

I found this Jeep sitting in a farm building of someone that I know and I asked him about selling it. A couple weeks later he contacted me and said he would do it. I shared pictures with him throughout the entire frame up restoration and he has stated how happy he is that I purchased it and brought it back to life.

  1. Great job bringing her back to life. You should be very proud of that rebuild. There;s nothing like owning and driving a 46 VEC.

  3. Yes, I remember the days I first saw this Willy Jeep rolling in my place immediately after the Second world War.
It is my dream to have one, but it is not within my position. Today, I am 89 years old and I have many stories about the war – I was in midst of events. I also remember seeing the B24 aeroplane flying past our villages. We were surprised since at that time all aeroplanes have only two engines compare to B24 have four engines.

    Thank you.

  5. Disc brakes a poor choice for off road use too open to the dirt. When AMC used them theyhad shrouds to keep the dirt away. You probably did not adjust the original adjusting cams right as if they were adjusted correctly they would do the job.

  7. Looks great. I’m trying to resuscitate a 46 CJ2A. I’m determined to keep it 6V as original (contrary to the advice from friends). My biggest “vex” is the slow turn over. I can only get it going by pull start. I have a new battery 1 gauge battery cables and starter cable, someone switched it to solenoid and I switched back to floor starter (new). Any advice on how to improve the cranking speed ?
