I bought this truck 40 years ago when I was 19. I swapped in the dana 60 – 8 lug rear axle and dana 44 – 8 lug front axle along with a Mopar 383 magnum V8. I installed a Detroit locker in the back and Gleason Torsen in the front. I had some fun with it and then it sat for many years – mostly in my garage. Then about two years ago I tore it down to the frame and did a complete rebuild resto mod.

I built the bumpers, tent rack, 3 link front suspension, and fabricated all the suspension parts. The tent rack raises up and down using gas struts and come a long parts to crank it down into position for driving. That way it is down low when driving then raises up to the proper height to unfold the roof top tent. The front bumper holds a 9000 lb Ramsey winch with synthetic rope.

The engine was bored balanced and has TBI fuel injection. It has a cold air intake and filter on the passenger side. I took the steel rims I had from years ago and painted them with black bed liner after welding in the rock rings which I painted yellow to match the body. It has been a fun project. I built, refurbished or replaced every part on there so it was a creative effort as well. Thank you for helping me make this dream come true.

  1. Well done. I wish I could do the same in Switzerland. I specially like the system for the roof tent. You’re bumpers are also excellent. Excellent job. Wish you lots of pleasure driving it.
