This is my 1947 Willys CJ-2A. I bought it as a junker from a farmers field in Bakersfield in ’91.

As an old F-4 mechanic, I can appreciate you still having your Mothers torque wrench, how awesome ! Very good looking set up you have,I can relate to keeping things original as possible, and looks like you have done well . I am currently restoring a’72 CJ5 with factory V-8 under hood .
Wow! Well done!
Phillip, so great to see a CJ-2A that is “truly restored” and not “upgraded.” My parents bought a 1946 CJ-2A new and I am told I was with them but was only three and don’t really remember. I still drive it !!! I Drove it in High School and College and off and on for many years.
Your Jeep looks wonderful and it is such a delight to see the “Go Devil” engine under the hood and not some damn V-8. Out here in Idaho a guy invited me to see his 1946 and it was a show room paint job and had been modified quite a bit. To myself I said “he destroyed a legend to build a damn nice freak” but compliments were in order for his excellent work. His work really is quite good but a V-8 and no tailgate? LOL
You might post some “before and after” photos as we Jeep people really appreciate such efforts.
My Dad was a country doctor in South Missouri and the Jeep was quite handy for those 1940’s muddy roads. My Mom had been trained as an airplane mechanic and in the mid 50’s she rebuilt the Jeep engine for my Dad’s birthday. I still have her torque wrench. Not many guys can say that.
If you are ever in Idaho Falls please let us know.
Best of luck and thanks for your fine work. Joe Stokes, Idaho Falls, ID
