Donny Donelson's 1947 Willys Truck

I performed a complete ground up build of this truck. Decided to modify instead of restore, and this truck has a 1967 327 double hump head Chevy engine. 1991 5 speed manual transmission from a Chevy C1500; 1977 Ford Bronco 350 ratio positive traction 9 inch rear end; and 2000 Dodge Dakota front seat. Although these items are modified, I tried to stay true to the vehicle when building all other items. This vehicle has new window rubbers, felt, and channels; new rubber door and hood seals; new emergency brake cable; new kingpin set; new front springs, U bolts, shackles and pins; new chrome hood latches; new front park and turn signal lights; new tailgate and hinges; new gas tank and mounting brackets; new wipers and electric wiper motor; new glove box; new rear bumper; new brake cyclinders; and new front wheel seals – all from Kaiser Willys. In addition, the 327 engine is a complete rebuild with all new components; new bearings and seals in the Ford rear end; new tinted window glass; new radiator; new 16×7 polished aluminum wheels; and a new shiny paint job. The truck is 90% complete – still have some interior work to perform and some exterior tweaks – but the truck is a wicked little vehicle – nicknamed Wee Wicked Willy.Donny Donelson's 1947 Willys TruckDonny Donelson's 1947 Willys Truck Donny Donelson's 1947 Willys Truck  Donny Donelson's 1947 Willys Truck

  1. A great name for a great looking P/U. Good job! You know the old saying, ‘”if you had a feather’?

  3. Beautiful. Looks like an original 2wd. I have had one of these in storage that I have been collecting parts and planning the build for way too long. I hope mine will someday look as good as yours.
