We acquired this M38 several years ago as a “basket case” We have a young man working for us back from two tours with the Marines in Afghanistan and the thing seemed to catch his attention so we turned it over to him. While we have several collectible cars, our business is construction machinery and our restoration skills are limited to backhoes and motor graders but with the help of Kaiser Willys and a small shop here in Tucson called Willys Works, we have arrived at what you see here (as authentic as we can make it but lot’s more to do). When he asked us if he could put on a couple of names of buddies who didn’t make it back we were hooked.

  1. I’m a Vietnam veteran. I enjoy talking to all veterans about my M38A1. Veterans, especially Army and Marines, are drawn to these vehicles. The jeep to an infantryman is what the horse was to the old Cavalry. Beautiful job on the M38.

  3. Wonderful story, great looking M38. My son-in-law was in the Marines 10 years and i was in the Navy. We are just starting on an M38 restoration. Our Jeep has a long way to go so we are looking for examples of what our Jeep could look like. We decided to go with a Marine paint VS the Navy and the pictures of your Jeep are a perfect example of what we are looking for. I hope it comes out as nice as yours. Thanks for the pictures.

  5. A very valiant tribute! Our hearts, for most of us, are in the right place. God bless our troops.

  7. Very well done M-38. Definitely a great story for a tribute to those that did not get to come home.
I recently purchased a M-38 about a year ago and it’s a work in progress.
    Thanks for the great story.
