As a kid I always watched old movies with my dad. One of our favorites was “It’s a mad, mad, mad world”. An excellent comedy from the golden age of the silver screen. At the age of 10 I was instantly drawn to the blue SUV that the nutty British scientist was driving. “Dad what is that car? “It’s a Willys son”! My Dad and I would laugh together every time that movie came on. My favorite part was always the scene with Milton Bearl and the Englishman in that Wagon. 30 yrs later I own one! It always makes me think of my Dad and that goofy movie. When I bought it, she didn’t run, she had a lot of rust and it was school bus yellow. I was thankful that everything I needed for the restoration I could find at Kaiser Willys making the restoration much smoother. I’ve owned four Willys over the years, a CJ-2A, a few Trucks, but that Wagon is still my favorite!

Just bought a 1952 willys overland station wagon. Very similar to ones in the picture . The front grill is different. …There are 4-5 horizontal chrome bars across the grill . Can anybody tell me why the difference.?
I’m presently working on a 52 wagon. I remember the 50 wagon and the 60 truck I had and they were my favorite. My first Jeep was a 68 Jeepster then a 70 C-J6 several Wagoneers and a verity of others and the one I now have is my 15th Jeep.

My favorite was the TV show Sky King, where Skylar King flew a plane and drove a Willys Wagon. When I say a 1959 wagon for sale back in 1990, I jumped on it and started its restoration
I also saw a Jeep Sedan Delivery used by a TV repairman in the movie “Suddenly” staring Frank Sinatra.
Of course who can forget Nelle Belle used by Pat, sidekick to Roy Rogers.
Loved the scene after the wheels all bent, wobbling down the road, just like the real jeep with worn steering and oversize tires.
Used to have some of these wagons show up in the 100 Jeep cavalcades we would go out on in our 2A back in the mid 50’s. I remember they had a little more trouble in the really tight spots but we would all lend a hand. The wagon families always had the best camp set ups due to all the stuff they could carry compared to our 2A’s. Used to fit Dad, Mom, Grandma, us 3 kids and our dog along with all the camping gear, tools, etc. in our 2A with the tail gate down and nothing tied up on the top of our hard top. There wasn’t much room left for extra stuff, that’s for sure. I’m restoring that same ’48 2A I’ve ridden in since I was 2 years old. You’ve got something there to be real proud of!
Great Jeep! The English commedian in “Mad,World” was Terry Thomas. Great commedian with many movie credits in his career. Brian Keith has a nice jeep in “The Russins are Coming, The Russians are Coming!” Stephen Gage
