This 1943 Willys MB was found in a barn on Cape Cod in 2016. The story I was given was that the jeep was purchased from one of the many bases on the Cape post war and used as a plow vehicle on a local property until that owner retired. I acquired the jeep from it’s previous owner who had amassed a pile of NOS parts with the intention of restoring it but he ran out of time and patience. I began the teardown with my father-in-law but my wife became pregnant and the project stalled. Around 2019 I found a restoration shop and farmed out the rebuild to them. I elected to spare no expense- this was a full frame off restoration. The engine and transmission were fully rebuilt using all new components. The old body was replaced with a Kaiser Willys supplied body kit. Probably the best advice I ever got was it’ll never be easier or cheaper to fix it then when it’s in pieces on the floor, and I followed that advice in the restoration. The jeep was completed in 2022 and done in the markings of the 104th regiment, 26th Infantry Division as it would have appeared in October, 1944 in France.
