This blue 1963 CJ-5 was my grandfathers. It sat for many years in his barn after his passing. We pulled it out a couple decades ago, did a few adjustments to it and have been driving it ever since. I learned to drive it as an 11 year old. On my first piloting adventure, my grandfather and I drove it out through the back pasture on a cold winter moonlit night. The only sound was the puttering of the engine and snow hitting the inside of the wheel wells. It seemed like the snow was 2 feet deep as we wheeled across the virgin field. No top and the windshield down. I was hooked. My son and I are in the process of restoring it (frame-off at the moment) at the moment.

Bill,
Wow, very nice Jeep… mine was a light blue for many years, Peacock Blue, it was an actual Jeep color.
It looked exactly like yours!! Exactly.
Mine is a 1956 CJ-5 that I have had since I was 18 or 19 years old, 62 years ago. I have never done a frame up restoration, it was driven too much as my transportation. There is likely some pine needles and dirt on the frame or transmission skid plate beneath from the 60’s in the mountains and forests of El Dorado Forest in California. ( The Gold Rush country between Placerville and Lake Tahoe, heaven in a Jeep adventures there )
I spent every free hour in the mountains, drove it all my years of college, it is my beloved friend of many trips in Winter snow late at night, and never quit.
Take care of your beautiful rig, it looks beautiful.
Mine is now a Blue Green Metallic.
We have wonderful pieces of history to cherish! Best of luck with yours!!
