New Brake Shoe Set for 9″ x 1 3/4″ brakes (1 set required per axle) – Part#: 807376
Q: Will one set contain 4 shoes or just 2?
- A: This is for 4 (an axle’s worth)
Q: Which type of shoe is needed for the front axle?
- A: These are for both front and rear. They are the same.
Q: Is there adjustment for these shoes?
- A: Yes these were originally manually adjusting break backing plates.
Q: On a 1963 CJ-5, does the short pad shoe go on the forward or rear side of the brake assembly?
- A: The primary (longer one) goes towards the front.
Q: I have a 1964 tuxedo park, (CJ-5A?) The O’Riley guy said 10″ rear & 9″ front. I just bought the Jeep and haven’t pulled the wheels yet, is this correct?
- A: They are wrong. They used the same brakes front and rear on all Jeeps. It is best if you measure to make sure you get the right parts.
Q: I have a 1959 CJ-5. Are the front shoes available with a higher coefficient of friction. The 9″ x 1 3/4 polish up, and even with both feet on the pedal, it will not stop going downhill. It has new drums.
- A: Sounds more like your brake shoe adjusting eccentrics need to be adjusted. Once all the brakes are set up properly and adjusted this shouldn’t happen.
Q: When I release the break pedal, the rear wheel of one side is still locking up and the break shoe was not returning back. Therefore the wheel remained jammed, please give the solution of that?
- A: You are going to need to take your wheel off and inspect. It is most likely a broken spring or misadjusted eccentric. Sounds like you need a brake job.
Q: Will these shoes work on an M170?
- A: These only fit the vehicles listed above.
Q: Do these shoes come with the linings already installed – as shown in the picture?
- A: Yes, they are ready for install.
