This is my 1946 CJ-2A. This Jeep belonged to my grandfather’s best friend, Clifford. The two them used it as a hunting jeep. There were many hunting stories involving the Jeep, and Clifford. One in particular resulted in a bullet hole through the hood. Which still resides in its original location. I was 17 when my dad and I went to Wewoka Oklahoma for a visit. I noticed the jeep under a pecan tree and began removing leaves and pecans. My Dad also became interested and we asked how much? Clifford made an offer $500 and my dad said, “YES”. Clifford said, “I’m not selling you a jeep that’s not running ” So he got it running. My dad and I took it home to Pearland, Texas and enjoyed it for years. Many years later, it was due for an overhaul. My Dad’s neighbor Randy Johnson, whose mechanical skills were far greater than his social skills, treated me like his own son. Randy rebuilt the engine while I watched. In the winter of 2008 I found myself in the hospital with my wife and new daughter in one room and Randy on his deathbed in another room. Therefore, we have dedicated our 1946 CJ-2A Willys to our good friends Clifford “C” and Randy Johnson “J”. Giving rise to our family’s 1946 Clifford Johnson. The girl posing with the Jeep is my beautiful wife Mandy. By the way, it is a 3 on the tree.

  1. Hello Kerry, just messing around and searched your name in Pearland. Didn’t know you had an old Jeep. I’m also a Jeep fan and have restored an old 1976 CJ7. This is my second one to restore, the other one was a 1974 Post Office Jeep. I used them both for hunting. The 76 has a 304 V8 with an auto transmission. I drive it almost every day at the lake where we live mostly. We miss seeing you guys. How is your dad, haven’t heard from him in a long time. Come see us when your up this way.
