533: Tony Garcia’s 1948 Willys CJ-2A

This Jeep was my Grandads prize possession! I remember riding in it at a very young age. After Grandad, my Dad got it and started the restoration, as the Wyoming winters and summer rain got to it. When the gas tank started leaking it was parked never to be started again, Yet!! Now I have it and got it up on blocks ready to go thru it. My Grandad put a 66 Buick 225 in it. Hope I can find all the parts!

  1. Great project. A lot of people install that V-6 into old Jeeps. I think that is an aluminum block engine. I had one in a 1963 Buick Special. Be careful of over-torquing if you rebuild the engine.

  3. The ‘3A was a real good vehicle. If you can fine the ’62-63 198 V-6 they had a smaller belhousing and still fit with the Jeep motormounts. to rebuild the 198 V-6’s you could have camshaft reground.
