249: Charles Sumner’s 1943 Willys MB

I restored this Willys MB in 1983. It is the oldest in my collection and the one driven the most. I am the second owner. This jeep served in the military during WW2 at Fort Hood Texas and was sold as surplus in 1947. The Kaiser Jeep truck is a 1967 M715, restored and on display at the National United States Armed Forces Museum.

  1. I see that is a Seabee weapons carrier with a nmcb-56 BEEP sticker. I hope you still have the title to this truck, because I have read stories about vehicles that were donated in good faith to museums and other places like that being sold if they had an excess of them. Sometimes at less than used car auction prices and without regard for the original donator. I’m not sure the title will help if possession is 9/10s of the law. Now if you sell it to them and they sell it then it’s theirs to do as they please. Just a little precautionary addition to your knowledge. Both vehicles look great. I was in nmcb-71 all my jeeps have 71 BEEP stickers on them. Keep up the good work l. Paine.
