117: Mike Tuha’s 1966 CJ-5A Tuxedo Park
I bought my 1966 Kaiser Cj5-a Tuxedo Park off a coworker that was leaving Alaska, He thought it was just an old jeep. It was a low miles no not running project when I towed it home, I put a new fuel pump and new fuel lines on, cleaned the carb and it fired right up.



It has 1966 Mustang taillights grafted in the rear and a the spare tire is recessed into the tub. The next step is a disc brake conversion some engine massaging and some light body work.

My 1966 CJ5 Tuxedo Park has three on the tree, not a floor stick. I can not find any other owners with this configuration. I also have an AM radio that I have not seen in any other CJ5. I got the origional speck sheet for the Tuxedo Park and it doesn’t have any reference to a shift on the steering shaft.

Mine has the Dauntless V6 with 55,000 miles on the clock, the 3 speed transmission and the single lever transfer case.

I enjoy your reviews of all of the jeep vehicles and noticed the idea of converting to disc brakes. There is another option while keeping the original drum brakes that keep dirt out a lot better than disc brakes. I have a rebuilt hydravac in line booster that reallly gives you a lot more power by boosting the stenght of the fluid flow itself. The conversion is much more common and easier to do than disc brakes.

Hi Mike,
I have a 1965 Tuxedo Park with a three-speed column shift. It came with the Warn overdrive, F134 hurricane motor, and Meyers hard top. Mine keeps burning up points even though I have the resistor coil. I am thinking of changing the points out for a pertronix unit.

I have a well worn but unmolested 1964 Tuxedo Park with F-134 four cylinder engine. Mine has column shift and single lever transfer case that were standard with TP in ’64 when it became a separate model designated CJ5A. On the internet you can find a parts list of everything that is different in a TP (CJ5A). There are a lot of differences from a regular CJ5.
I’d (nearly) give my right arm (but can’t afford a lot of $) for an original chrome bumper (rounded tips, 3 mounting holes) if you or anyone has one.
