  1. This is the only other reference to the color scheme I can find other than my original 1947 CJ-2A. Is it the original color scheme to the Jeep? It appears to be Michigan Yellow with Luzon Red wheels with a Michigan Yellow pin stripe. Will be finishing mine in this scheme shortly.

  3. Hello,

I am very much interested in Mr. Al Appel’s CJ2A’s tan jeep with “orange” wheels. I am currently restoring my CJ2A jeep and traces of the original color are identical to Mr. Applel’s jeep. Unfortunately my local PPG paint dealer can’t replicate the color with their computer. After a 1/2 a dozen samples I have yet to find a match that is even close to the original paint. Is there any way you can contact Mr. Appel and ask him for the source of the paint he used on his CJ2A. Or at the very least the paint color code mix used to replicate the color on his jeep for the body and the rims. If he has the numbers for the paint mix on the body and the rims my PPG guy says he can match the color. Thank you for any help you can give me.

PS… It is very important that I restore this jeep to its original glory as it has a long and storied history with my family and friends.
