
I purchased this Willys in April, 2019 as seen in the picture but I have already put a lot of work into it. For now, I’m mainly working on making it roadworthy, lights, fluids, etc. I have changed the steering wheel to the proper one and made sure the horn works. New motor and transmission / transfer case mounts. I bought a side mirror for it and have installed that. I’m really down to rewiring the interior and exterior lighting. A previous owner had changed the lights over from 24 volt to 12 volt and the wiring was pretty sloppy. I’m cleaning it up and adding relays for the headlights.
My mantra on this rig is to not drill any holes or cut anything up. It’s a bit of a challenge, but I like that I’m able to preserve whatever is there even though someone had done many modifications already.

The vehicle itself was purchased from the Army in 1976 at a defense disposal sale in Clackamas, OR. I haven’t been able to find the serial on the engine yet, but I do have the VIN plate from behind the passenger seat and it matches the data plate on the dash. I also received some of the original paperwork from when it was purchased from the military.
