This 1952 Willys M38 was from the Cleveland Air Force Base. It was last used as a Civil Air Patrol Jeep and was painted blue when I bought it. Most every original part was still with the jeep. New floor piece had been purchased so I was able to install it. Beside the rust, most everything was reusable. These pictures were taken in front of Brooksville Army Airfield Bunker in Hernando County, Florida. This bunker was used as a firing target, that is how they tested and aligned the machine guns on the bombers. If you look closely at the structure, you can still see the bullet holes. I bought this from a gentleman that was starting to restore this jeep and he passed away. His family had this for another 15 years and decided to sell it. I purchased it from the gentleman’s wife and son. It was all taken apart, some new parts were purchased, and he took special care in labeling parts. This is what the Willys M38 looks like now.

I, too, have an M38, and it is in USAF Blue and sports the markings of the Civil Air Patrol as a historic example of CAP’s service as the USAF Auxiliary, and to remember the Jeeps’, as well as the members of Civil Air Patrol’s, service, volunteerism and countless hours spent in humanitarian Missions for America.

That M38 is really perfect, congratulations.

How did you fix the front of the canvas top to the windshield frame?

Your M38A1 is beautiful well done. I have a 1955 M38A1 and mine is in the same condition as your my question is my fenders are round and your are straight. Have ant thoughts on why?

I’m in the process of collecting parts for the basket case to bring it back to its original condition. My 1954 Willys M170 Frontline Ambulance was also featured as Jeep of the Week by Kaiser Willys. it came great right now i am building a 40×62 steel building so i cant start my jeep project i have 4 ww2 jeep one 1952 m38 one 1958 m38a1 and 1962 m170 ambulance its great to remember the soldiers that have gave so much to this country i am building this for them for our freedom god bless usa
