With so many off-roading good times out there to be had, we’d like to hear about your favorite Willys or Jeep offroad trail or destination! We’ll get you started! One great place to visit (in the USA) is the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest located in the state of Georgia.
With 1,367 trout streams, ten wildernesses and 430 miles of trails, the Chattahoochee National Forest has a little bit of something for everyone. (You don’t have to leave your significant other at home for this trip!) Over 13 OHV trail systems can be found in the 4 Districts available for your off-roading pleasure. Of the 4 Districts, the Conasauga District seems like the best choice (or at least offers the most in scenery and outdoor rec. activities).
While you are busy bumping around on the Tatum Lead ORV Trail, your “off-road un-inclined” company can enjoy fishing, hiking, horse riding, swimming or boating. As for me, I’ll do a little bit of everything, turn off my cell phone (a must), and enjoy my granola bar and beef jerky in the sun.
Or, you can check out the Beasley Knob OHV Trails, in the Blue Ridge Ranger District.
Leave a comment – let us know what YOUR favorite off-road destination is! Knowledge is power, and power is waiting to be unlocked under your hood. So put your fanny pack down, and take a real vacation. 🙂
Disclaimer – (Yes, the destination we picked is not so “hard-core”, and more of a family-pleaser off-road destination, but I’m a family-kind of person, so don’t let that bother you – show us up with your suggestions!)

I used to live very close to the Chattahoochee National Forest in Cleveland, GA and still have friends in the region (Gainesville), but I have to admit I never went off roading there. Is it legal?
Absolutely! As long as you are off-roading in designated areas… You just need to be aware of the rules and restrictions, and of where (on which trails) it is “legal” to off-road. Some trails are just for motorcycles and small vehicles, but there are at least few nice trails that are definitely open to 4×4 vehicles (with no vehicle width restriction). Some require a day “permit” (usually around $5) and some don’t… Best to check the specific trail you are interested in. 🙂
I GREW UP IN WYOMING, THERE ARE GREAT PLACES ALL OVER THE U.S,BUT THE OLD HOME GROUNDS ARE THE BEST FOR ME.

Hill City, South Dakota for me and Sundance, my 1953 Willys pickup. Then I would travel all the logging roads, abandoned railroad lines and back roads in the Black Hills. Now if it were only running…
I take my 51 Willys up to Skyline Drive almost every weelend. It’s nothing more than a county fire road that goes up in the hills of the Clevland National forest in California. It’s close to home, only 3 miles from my house, but worlds away.
Hi do yall have a kit jeep?
At this time, my favorite place would be anywhere out of my garage. My ’62 Willys Stationwagon won’t be finished for sometime…but rest assured…North Georgia Mountains will be high on my list. Stay Safe! and Tread Lightly.
