Jerry Revenig's 1951 Willys CJ-3A

I want to thank my brother Conrad for introducing me to his 1948 Willys CJ2A way back when I was 12, loved these little Jeeps ever since. Once these old Jeeps get in your blood there is just no turning back. I am always amazed at the powerful bonding ability these things have with family, friends and interested bystanders. They really have the power to build relationships. They are more of a family heirloom than just another vehicle. I am not sure any other rig I’ve ever known of can do the same thing with father and son or friends.

1951 Willys CJ-3A. It started as a somewhat complete Jeep and a trailer full of parts and roughly a year later it turned out like you see here. This Willys was drove so nice and smooth and had so much power it was amazing. It turned heads of all ages every where it went and everyone had to stop me and give it a once over. This thing would stand straight up in the air with out any problem, but it came back down with a BANG! when it hit the ground again.

What I have done to my Jeep:

New, all steel body, 2.5′ Rancho lift and shocks, Dana 27 front w/5:38 gears and Warn hubs, limited slip, Dana 44 rear w/5:38 gears. 11″ big brake conversion, 1980 Chevrolet Z28 350 with Edelbrock manifold, carter four barrel, crane RV cam, block hugger headers and custom exhaust. 1980 Cheverolet Z28 TH350 with shift kit and cooler, Hurst shifter, Dana 18 Transfer case. Warn overdrive, Painless wiring harness, Custom roll cage, Poly racing seats with 5 point harnesses, GM tilt column and power steering, CJ5 rear mounted gas tank, Besttop full soft top with doors, Custom front bumper. Every nut and bolt was replaced and everything was rebuilt and gone through.

  1. As long as it’s a CJ, it looks good, but when it comes to , let’s say an M38 (Military), a lot of collectors do not realize, the3 more they modify the less it is worth.

  5. Very nice! I will have mine in here eventually. Like yours What I have is a Frankenstein too. I know purists will say I’ll never get out what I have put in, I say they are wrong, I’ll get it back in fun! For the record I have a 1947 CJ2A, with a Buick V6 motor, I am trying to get a new clutch put in. It sits on a 2 1/2″lift on 32″ Super Swamper tires. I think you’ll agree, what we get out of it is fun, not doubt like yours mine is NOT FOR SALE!
