I live in the panhandle of Florida just below Dothan Alabama. There are very few flat fenders here. Most are completely rusted out because of the humid climate. I had been looking for a few years and one day I came across this Jeep. It was near Augusta, Georgia. The guy I bought it from told me he had bought the Jeep from a friend whose grandfather used it for a fencing rig on their farm. It was not running but kinda looked solid.
I rented a tow dolly to pull it home. I worked on it for about 1 week and was able to get it running. I spent most of the summer welding in a rear bed and front floor pan. The sides have been skimmed with sheet metal and pop rivets. Its original color was LUZON RED. I found the color on pieces of the rusted floor I cut out. It has been painted a few times and is now a dark grayish brown. I kind of like the patina because it tells the story of the Jeep. You can still see the dirt line on the tires where it had sunk into the ground from sitting for many years. The tires still hold air and leave the NDT tracks on the ground. I just love to see those tracks. My goal is to get it road worthy for day trips on the management land of Florida panhandle and to JEEP Jam in the spring.
