Pete’s Auto Sales located in Port Reading, New Jersey. Current Owner operator Thomas Kocsi and Son Phillip Kocsi. The business was opened in 1958 by Tom’s Father and Phillip’s Grandfather, Peter Kocsi. On June 3, 1963 Peter purchased a 1963 Willys Pickup Truck in order to snow plow for the business. This truck has remained in the family since 1963 and is currently enjoying retirement from snow plowing. Interesting fact is that the family name “Kocsi” comes from Hungary, meaning Coach, car or wheeled wagon. In Hungary there’s a museum, Kocsi-Muzeum, filled with coaches. Grandpa Pete is seen in this historic photo in a parade.

And Great Grandson of Pete, Luke is seen in the current day photo of this 1963 Jeep. Pete’s Auto Sales continues to do business in repairs, and sales for the Tri-State Area celebrating over 67 years of business and three generations. Also shown is the original Certificate of Ownership dating back to 1963, we only wish they only cost .50 cents these days… We hope you enjoy this bit of Willys History in NJ.
