Brittany Jacobsen's 1953 Willys M38A1

Hello, Im Brittany (23) and I have a pretty fun and unique M38A1. It’s a 53, with a 350 chevy in it. When I was really young I was extremely fascinated with my dad’s CJ-5 and wanted one for my first vehicle. I searched high and low to find the most amazing one at a decent price since I was just working summers and after school during high school. We were able to find a ton of parts for a military Jeep and I was thrilled. Dad and I worked on it every day all day for my whole spring break of 2007 and were able to bring her to life, and she’s a fun ride. It became my daily driver in high school. I drove it without doors, just a bikini top in snow and rain and whatever else came my way. I love this Jeep and I’m so excited to get to share some photos with you guys, I hope because we didn’t go the restoration direction rather the modified direction, that you guys will still enjoy it.

  1. I’m curious about the military serial # on the hood. Is it just a ‘throw together’?…or is it a real serial? In either case I like it because it simulates a WWII marking with the circle around the Star as early WWII Jeeps had.

  3. Hi Brittany,
The jeep looks great. Do not worry about the modified thing as most every jeep has been modified in one way or another. There are the “jeep officiadoes out there where nothing adds up in their estimation. Your Jeep is great. I looks cool and I bet drives even better. I can understand your enthusiasm as I have a Jeep that isn’t perfect as well and I love mine too. The funny part is with out the enthusiasts like us there would be less of a supply of stock parts for the collectors. It’s the same for the hot rod industry as well. We all benefit from this great hobby.

Spring is here, enjoy your Jeep!

  5. Love your Jeep and especially because it is meant to be used and not a museum piece. I too would ride my CJ-7 for 3 seasons without doors nor a top. Loved it and miss the old girl since I sold it which I regret terribly.

  9. Growley Jeep! You have good taste. The comment above about the “can carriers” and invation stars”? He needs to learn how to write/spell before he comments.
