Mike McLain's 1946 Willys CJ-2A

This is my 1946 Willys CJ-2A, registered as a 46, but has parts from all over. 75 Buick V6, 67 Muncie 4 speed, GM Power steering, new dual brake system, axles and brake drums from a 66-71 CJ-5. Completely rewired, no rust, bed liner on the inside tub. Hopefully some day it will get a new coat of paint. This Willys Jeep is truly a work in progress. Since we bought it three years ago, we have been on top of several mountain ranges over 7000 ft. I can put all of my grand kids in it and run up to mountain top roads. My 16 year old grandson got his first driving lesson on it last summer. It is a love/hate relationship. A lot of work to restore it so that it will be reliable in the back country. The family loves it. I have had 5 Jeeps since my first 69 CJ-5. I also have a 1943 Willys MBT trailer that I purchased in 1970.

  3. Really like your Willys! I would like to do the same to my ’46. Is the steering from a Buick also and how difficult was it to add the brakes?
