Jeepster in France

You may know that the Statue of the Liberty was designed by a famous french sculptor named Bartholdi. He had been ordered to design a symbol of the Liberty, and drew several sketches but was not satisfied of the results. As he was working late in the night, his mother went down the stairs in her nightgown, with a light up in her hands, to tell him to go to bed…. There was the Idea!!! The statue was also manufactured in Paris and then shipped to New York. To thank the French people, the American people had a public subscription and sent us a replica (but smaller) of the statue. It is visible in the center of Paris, at “l’ile aux cygnes”, along the Seine river where I took the picture with my January 1950 Willys Jeepster. To my knowledge ,there are only 4 or 5 Jeepsters in France.
