572: Antonio Francesco Lazzaro’s 1958 Willys M38A1
I bought my M38A1 back in the year 1979. I am not aware of its origin (I think from Germany and the Netherlands). The old condition was very bad and I thought I’d repaint it black, since I’ve seen a model of this color was used in Korea for services command. The no. on the frame shows MD 12593. I have finished the work on my M38A1 and wanted to show everyone.

Bravo Francesco. Bella macina. Hello. I am Dave and i live in Switzerland. I have been working on jeeps for the past 40 years. Some elements on the picturs remind me of the ones we hade in Switzerland. Wen the Swiss army started to sale them, ther was a lot of italien byers. So it is posible that it cam out of the Swiss army. I like the Alfa Roméo Giulia that is parked just besid the M 38 A1. As a kid I remember the Carrabinieri hade the same ones, the were blue in color. Enny how your jeep looks very good. A this time I style have a cj 5 of 1966 that served 30 years in the Swiss army. I buy all the parts I need from kaiser willys. And I am happy with the excellent Quality and good delevery. Any how Switzerland and Italy are neighbours so if you Wish to get in touch with me you are welcome on e-mail : jeep.cj1966@gmail.com
May be we Talk later to gether. Buon Anno encora. Chio

Hi Antonio,
Your jeep definitely is a M38A1 assembled by NEKAF (Nederlandsche Kaiser Frazer Fabrieken N.V.) in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. His elder and younger ‘brothers’ from the assembly line did also survive the many years of active service in the Royal Netherlands Army (Koninklijke Landmacht), see serial numbers below. Your jeep was assembled in 1956.
serial number year mil. reg. nr. country
MD12592 1956 KP-90-25 NL
MD12593 1956 *********** NL>IT
MD12594 1956 KP-74-09 NL
I am glad to have found another survivor all the way in Italy !
