David Tracy's 1948 Willys CJ-2A

394: David Tracy’s 1948 Willys CJ-2A

I bought a total junker out of a barn in rural Michigan, and frantically fixed it up for a nearly 1,800 miles journey to Moab, Utah. It broke down 1,300 miles in when the timing gear broke, but when I got to Moab (on a flatbed), I was able to get her fixed. And my goodness was she amazing on those trails.

  1. Awwwh man ..,

You forgot 70-Year Old Jeep Rule 3(b): “Never get further away from home than you are willing to walk”. (Of course we all ignore that rule!)

    Nice Jeep!

  3. I read many stories about CJs but never about DJs. I just restored a DJ3a and they are wonderful machines, typically not receiving hard wear and tear of a CJ.
