266: Floyd McAnallen’s 1954 Willys CJ-3B
This is my 1954 Willys Jeep CJ-3B with the 134 ci, 4 Cyl, 72 HP “Hurricane Engine”. All Matching numbers to include the original motor. Had to get her mechanically sound and one crank every day starts and is reliable now. New engine work, fuel lines, carb, oil lines, radiator, header, exhaust, air breather,, etc, etc, etc.. She is by far one of the most fun vehicles I have owned and a blast to drive.

Nice restoration job! Where did you get the manifolding? Also do not discard the old carburetor. There is a man in Minneapolis that completely renovates them, to include rebushing the pivot points.

Very nice! you inspired me to get tear down my ’54 CJ3B and rebuilt. How did you do the paint? and as Dave Jones asked above where id you get he manifolding? original it is not?

Very nice looking job. One thing to correct : The engine is not a “Hurricane”. It’s a “F” head 4 cyl.
Hurricanes are 6 cyl. “Flat Head” ,and mostly used on the Willys pickups and Wagons.
Also ,the tail pipe should not protrude behind the body.(makes it look silly).

Nice and clean CJ3B, F head looks great, did you get the header from, Clifford-performance in Wildomar California? Did you get it from a another supplier? I have a 1945 Willys CJ2A with some MB parts. I put the header on from Clifford and the header left no space between the intake manifold, caused a massive vacuum leak, had to have the intake grooved to clear the manifold, also while hooking up the header, the tubing smashed against the oil pump. The kit also had no spacers for the offset of the intake & exhaust. Note the header will go on a L-head or F- head. Be careful sometimes, the after-market parts don’t fit! I just rebuilt this “Hurricane” 134 cu in 4 cylinder engine six months ago..
In fact, the CJ3B taller hood had a higher intake on the hurricane F-head 134 cu.in. (2.2 liter) 4-Cylinder Engine.

I believe Francisco is mistaken…It is a Hurricane engine. He is probably thinking of the 6 cylinder SUPER Hurricane.
