222: Carl Thomas’ 1961 Willys CJ-5

Restored to original specs over a two year period complete frame off all original metal. Every day we drive her it is like being on parade. We have owned this jeep nearly 15 years. We bought our jeep from the original owner and had to out bid some younger kids who wanted to turn it into a rock crawler. It has never been a regrettable decision due to all the fun we have had over the years.image image1 image2  image4

  1. Mr. Thomas,
The hurricane 4 was avery strong engine. My dad had one and her bored the cylinders .060″ when he overhauled it, planed the head .075″ and put a Stromberg 98 2 bbl carburetor on it. It was so strong that it kept up with my V-6 CJ -2A on the road. It lasted so well that someone bought it and raced it for more than a year before the jerks blew it up.

    Sincerely,
    Dave

anyway congratulations maintain OTHER willys more

  5. My ’49 CJ-3A that my Dad, Brother and I restored back in the ’70s is painted Ford Boxwood Green also! My Dad liked that color so much that all of his company trucks (all Fords) were ordered in Boxwood Green until Ford took it off their color chart. Its a great color for Jeeps and your’s looks fantastic!
