Ed Kelly's 1955 Willys CJ-5

173: Ed Kelly’s 1955 Willys CJ-5

The Willys was picked in El Dorado, Kansas the fall of 2012 and transported to Croydon, New Hampshire where the firm Broken Road began the restoration. The owners Andy and Curt were very thorough in their approach to using what they considered acceptable from the existing chassis and body, purchasing augmenting parts as required, while using donor parts from a ’66 CJ-5 that provided the rear end, trans., transfer case, and dash. The donor rear end helped in a lower number ratio which was a positive. The detail provided by Curt and Andy in the attention to restoration was acceptable and was evident at each stage of eval. The end result is a totally restored 1955 Willys CJ-5. I’m presently installing a heater and a soft top.
