163: Bob Davis’ 1957 Willys Station Wagon
Here are a few photos we took of our 1957 4×4 Station Wagon during 18 months of work. All floor panels were replaced as well as both rear quarters and extensive tailgate and framing rebuilds. All running gear has been rebuilt as well. I’ve done this 2 times, once in the early 60’s to a lesser extent and this time everything.

I did one of these back in college. I can really relate to you on that back end having problems and trying to fix all that rusted out piano hinge mess. Welded it all back together with a big piece of angle iron and was pretty proud when I got done. In the 1970’s blizzard in Minnesota, it was the only vehicle that would start in -40 degreee temps. I was impressed. Nice rig.

Great Job, Bob: I’m working on a 58 Station Wagon. What did you use for the floor panels in the back? It looks to me that they do not have the original grooves. What you have done looks good.

Bob,
The extent of your restoration has to be a huge motivation to others; like myself, inspiration is supported by perspiration and elbow grease!
Great job and congratulations!

My son and I are building a ’55 wagon. I especially like the wooden door panels and the spotlights.

I like the wood door panels. What did you use for the edging material?
I am doing a ’53 and using wood for door panels but I have not found anything for edging.
