157: Les Cole’s 1965 CJ-6A “Tuxedo Park”
I found and purchased this Jeep in excellent original condition and it has extremely limited corrosion due to the fact that it has been garaged its whole life. The sheet metal is all original including what appears to be the original paint (which does show some patina) and upholstery (excellent) and shows no evidence of corrosion or collision damage. This Jeep is still fitted with the original four cylinder “Hurricane” and three speed transmission and two speed transfer case. The Jeep also has a number of original features which are often missing including, original key, owners and parts manuals, working vacuum wipers, working floor drains, original license plate mountings for the front and rear, original rear tail lights, original tow bar, etc. In addition it has a number of optional features which were ordered when this car was new. These include the deluxe calf grain bucket seats, working period Hickey sidewinder winch, front and rear traction differentials (according to the owner’s manual the presence of “Use Limited Diff Lube Only” tags on the differentials indicates a traction differential is fitted), period warn locking front hubs, and the original calf grain rear passenger seat. Furthermore, the Jeep is a true “Tuxedo Park” data tag# 8422 which includes larger brakes, pleated seats, column shift, single lever transfer case, chrome front bumper and trim, and wheel covers. According to some factory production data# only 115 CJ-6A “Tuxedo Parks” CJ-6s were made in 1965 and only 459 were made from 64-67 total making it a very unusual model. This “Survivor” will continue to live on in its current unrestored condition in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

I have a cj6a too. Its resting in the carport now as it needs a distributor drive/oil pump. Its engine has been rebuilt and has been used since the 70s as a farm vehicle. It was interesting to see than only 459 were made. My jeep is a 1967 model. I would like to restore its paint and dings and leave it to my nieces husband. He says he would like to drive it in parades. Ha. Max Larson

What a great I have a 1965 TP CJ6a #63 would love to know what number yours was……mine is about 85% restored to as much original as possible including Lic plate light. Bumpers are being re chromed….
