Mike Young's 1950 M38 Jeep

064: Mike Young’s 1950 M38 Jeep

A few years ago I bought quite a few parts from you including a body tub. Here is what those parts became.
Mike Young's 1950 M38 Jeep
Still in work, but this type of project really never gets completed. 1950 M38, Muncie 4 Speed, Warn Overdrive, Chevy 327, Dynatrak Axles.
Basically a “New 1950 M38”, the one the Army really wished they had.

  3. Hallo Mike Young,
I never had a V8. My pickup has a straight 6. How does Your Willys Jeep behave with such a big engine? It must almost jump. It looks great and the colour to.
    All the Best

  5. Probably a bit late to comment , but just now found out I had made “Jeep of the Week”!! I have been driving it for about 3 years with only minor issues. Still need to shim the front axle pinion angle to get rid of a vibration. It only does it at high speed in the sand so that is why I haven’t got it done; not doing high speed in the sand everyday.
In answer to your question about how does it behave, well, you have to hang on and stay in control!!! My axles are 5″ wider than stock so stance and center of gravity are better as well as a reduced chance of rolling.
I am contemplating tearing it down and making some changes. It is one of those projects you really never get done with.
Thanks for the comments if you are still there!!
