Randal Lyman's 1948 4WD Willys Sedan Delivery
I do not know what year it is maybe you have an idea? Title states 1948, but I have many reasons to believe that is way off. Tornado 230, 4WD, Original 3 speed trans & transfer case, PTO winch Runs and drives Great!
Thank you,
Randy

On the frame (passenger side front wheel) you’ll find the last 5 digits of the serial number/title stamped.
Cross reference with Kaiser catalog on pages 48 and 49.
I have a 56′ and it has the square wheel wells, and pointed front fenders.
It looks awesome !!! I am trying to put barn doors on my wagon.
i just ran across this old blog and wondered if you still had the jeep, and if you would want to sell it.thanks
1947-1949 sported 9 vertical bars in the grill. In 1950, they reduced the vertical bars to 7, added 5 horizontal bars in the grill, and in 1953, they reduced the horizontal bars to 3.
The poster above is almost correct, 4WD became available in 1949.
The front fenders of 1946-49 were flat on the top, and yours are pointed.
The Tornado 230 came out in 1962.
It really depends. If during the restoration a parts truck was used, it could have multiple parts from different vehicles. If I had to guess (based on what I can see in your pictures) I would say without a doubt that this is a 1962-1965 (the last year they were made). Being that you have a title that says 1948, there is an issue. Either the previous owner came into possession of a 1948 title and just used that, or a 1948 was restored with later model parts (not uncommon).
Either way, this is a beautiful restoration and any Willys Jeep enthusiast will deeply appreciate it!
awesome job, looks great, I’m working on a 61, when it’s done, hopefully it will make the cover, kaiser willys is awesome to order from & work with, keep it up.
I beleive that that engine came out in 1962..Soooooooo ????
The square wheel wells will tell it is later than a 1948. It is at least a 1950 or 1951 because it is 4wd as well. Willys America could help you with the year. It looks good. I have a 1948 2wd wagon.
