We bought our 1958 Willys in 2009. I gave a 1970 VW Fusca (Beetle) and a little more money for it. This Jeep had Brazilian registration, but had been in Uruguay for over 30 years. It was quite original. My old father made some modifications to be able to use it on a daily basis. In its first renovation, it was painted with two shades of green. After many wanderings through the countryside of the state of Rio Grande do Sul (southern Brazil) – and many fines in my name – my old man managed to flip the Jeep! Fortunately, the steel roof – a period accessory – and the new seat belts that we had installed, helped to ensure that no occupants were injured! That was in 2017. New renovation…. Now our Jeep has a slightly more cheerful green tone and new tires. My 88-year-old father is looking forward to getting his hands on it again!

  1. Parabens! At least I think that’s the correct Portuguese expression! Great story. Nice looking CJ-5!
    Onward. 🙂

  3. It looks very nice, Luciano. Beautiful now after the accident, and a very nicely done top as well!
What has been done to the suspension to jack it up so much from the axles? It looks like the axle to spring support has been switched to the top of the axle, not the bottom as normal. Especially on the rear.
Thank you for the great story and photos.! .
