Bob & Anne Wieldraayer's 1961 CJ-5 Jeep

073: Bob & Anne Wieldraayer’s 1961 CJ-5 Jeep

This is my 1961 Willy’s CJ-5 Jeep. The Serial is #57548134623 and it was manufactured in July of 1961. When I brought it home in Dec. of 2010 it had 9279 miles. It belonged to Fire District 9 of Spokane, WA. from new to 1995 when it was sold at surplus. I bought it from the gentleman who purchased it at surplus and displayed it in his showroom of his Dodge dealership for 9 years.Bob & Anne Wieldraayer's 1961 CJ-5 Jeep
We live in Royal City, WA. and make our living producing hay for export, domestic dairy, feed stores and horses. We enjoy going for evening drives around the countryside and taking in the views that can only be found driving a convertible! I joke and tell people that this is my Therapy Jeep because it is much more fun to work on and drive than tractors and balers. The parts are less expensive too!

  1. If that’s his # what year is mine, 57548151048? Still working on title.
I bought it from a family estate in Silver City, NMex. with 23461 miles.
Was told it spent all of it’s life underground in the mines. The owner
bought it when the mines closed down. I’m thinking it’s a 1963 CJ5.
They had it completly rebuilt and painted. Looks and runs great. Those
deep gears, probably 5:38 are great in the hills. My hobby is prospecting
and it does just fine. I would like to put a overdrive on it but I really can’t
justify $1000.00 or more for just a 10 mile per hour increase. However,
I would like to get a dash sticker for the 3 stick trans, transfer set up. If
you have one available please send it to me COD. no problem paying.
Thanks, Charlie Marandina, 543 s. 89th way, Mesa, AZ. 85208-2315

  3. Cool! We have a 1963 CJ5 which we have updated and removed some parts you may be interested in. We have side steps, a generator (we converted to an alternator), crankshaft connected radiator fan (we added an electric fan), gas tank (we put in a fuel cell) and front and rear seats that are on ebay right now (we put in seats with a 5-point harness). Let us know if you are interested in any of this stuff. John Chivington, Carmel, Indiana, 317-575-8195

  5. Correction! Bottom 2 phoyos are of a 1960 CJ 3B taken in Los Alamos, New Mexico 3 or so years ago.
“Nellie Belle” is owned by Kim Ann Rodgers and has been in her family since purchased by her father, Bill Jack Rodgers, in 1959

  7. That’s a beautiful Jeep. I learned to drive stick in a ’43 Willy and grew up around my uncle’s and their Jeeps. They are always impressive. Hang on to that one Bob, it will be one to cherish.

  9. Correction to the correction I made earlier. I was wrong. How do I post photos of the CJ3B I was refering to? If you could see the photos I took you might make the same mistake also. Please accept my humble appologes for the miss-information.
