While riding the backroads of Michigan I spotted my 1953 M38A1 Willys for sale in a farmers yard gave the old jeep a once over, made the deal. The Farmer said what will you do with it, I said simply “I’m going to keep it forever” we made the deal, he followed me home to bring me back and retrieve my battery “purchased without even hearing it run”. Further the Farmer told me that the jeep was formerly a USMC M38A1 which I believe is true, I sanded down through the red paint to Olive Drab and yellow USMC markings. Plus a few other tells that I discovered while researching information about my Pride and Joy. BTW I am a former Marine myself. I am currently driving and Mechanically restoring as I go along, I’ll decide later when or if I’ll disturb the 60 years of Patina.
