Bob Christy's 1953 Willys CJ-3B

289: Bob Christy’s 1953 Willys CJ-3B

This is my 1953 Willys CJ-3B. This was a running pile of parts when I rescued it from a body shop in New Philadelphia, Ohio back in 1998. They had used it as a plow vehicle. The body was held together with bondo and popsicle sticks. I spent two years on the restoration and another 6 months on the motor. Every winter I do at least 1 major project on her. One year it was the overdrive and pto adaptor, this year it will be the installation of a vintage three point hitch and redo of the front springs.

  1. Very nice High Hood. What really caught my eye was the “Spen” trailer, these were sold at the Willys dealership. Just so happens I have an original 1947 Spen with the bows, it even has the original factory paint. I purchased it many moons ago from the fellow that bought it brand new in 47.

    Again nice looking Jeep!

  3. A beautiful restoration!! Congratulations. I have a ’53 cj3b as well that was the same original color but unfortunately had been repainted. I desperately want to get my jeep back to the original color but can’t seem to find the exact number/ shade, etc. Could you please tell me what color this great reproduction is?

    Many thanks and congratulations.
