Evan Meyerriecks

My friend Paul McIntyre (orange Jeep on left), and I (Evan Meyerriecks—red Jeep on right) decided in January 2008 to completely rebuild 2 CJ-2As and drive them across the country starting in Northern Virginia, making a loop, and eventually returning back home to VA. The 6-month long restoration/rebuilds encompassed many, many late nights but we made it! We left our hometown (Leesburg, VA) after being featured in the town’s parade on July 15th. It took us a month to make the loop around the country. We made many neat stops, and many fellow Jeepers put us up along the way. We wheeled the 2As in Moab and also drove them up in the factory at Toledo—where the one surviving Jeep employee—Gerome— who has worked at Jeep since the 1940s and help build every Jeep since, came out and greeted us. It was a great lifetime experience that I know both Paul and I (we were both 21 at the time) will always remember.
