198: Tom McClamroch’s 1960 Willys CJ-5
My Dad bought this jeep about 15 years ago. I believe we are the 4th owners of this jeep. I know at one time it was owned by the the local fire Dep. We used it on the farm moving hay wagons, checking fields and picking up rocks in the field. I Guess you could say it was our over sized ranger. When I was in high school we repainted it to match our school colors and my brother and I would take it to school when the weather was nice! Once I left for college the jeep was parked in the back corner of the barn and sat for about 10 years. I am now back home on the farm and after this long wet spring i decided to pull the jeep out of the barn and give it a new life again. A new battery and a couple other minor things it started up and runs like a champ! I put in about 100 hours of sanding, hot washed the frame and did some bondo work. I decided to stay with an original color so I picked Omaha Orange. This was my first restoration so its not perfect, but i am happy with the outcome. I now take the jeep out every evening with my wife for a cruise.
